Open-source intelligence (OSINT) refers to the practice of gathering and analyzing publicly available information to produce actionable intelligence. It involves collecting information from a wide range of sources like social media, public records, and news articles, and then analysing it to identify patterns, trends, and valuable insights. In essence, OSINT is a powerful tool for leveraging publicly available information to gain a deeper understanding of the world around us, and to make informed decisions based on that understanding.
Public Available Information
OSINT relies heavily on information that is publicly available and fully accessible. This data is not always obvious and highly trained investigators are skilled in finding those hidden pieces of intelligence / information.
Diverse Sources
OSINT leverages a wide array of sources, including Social Media App's, news articles, company documents, photos and websites, academic publications and more. Ultimately there is no limited to where Investigators obtain their intelligence.
Analysis and Interpretation
The collected data is not just gathered but anaylised and presented to derive meaningful intelligence, which can be used to in decision making, risk assessment, future planning or to understand specific events or situations.
Actionable Intelligence
OSINT aims to produce insights that can be used to inform actions, strategies, or responses to identified threats or opportunities.
